Analysis of Existing Projects
We use our own proprietary tools to measure features of a legacy FoxPro or
DBASE or Clipper program. These tools have proven invaluable in estimating the level of
complexity in the program. If we know which parts are simple and which parts are
complex we can use a factor in our estimate to be sure we don't over-estimate
the fee to port the simpler sections of your code. This makes us more confident
of our quotes so we can take on jobs porting your aging
software -- and allow it to use the modern OOP technologies that are available today.
By using these tools, it makes it simpler to count the number of screens and
reports in your program. You will still need to tell us which ones you are
actually using. There is no need to spend time converting code that is not being
used.

The Fox Wiki is a great source of information on measuring code
complexity, as well as many other topics of interest to the Visual
FoxPro developer community. If you haven't perused Steve Black's web
site or Wiki yet, there's no time like the present. |
